Quagga (Zoo Tycoon 2)

The secretive Quagga is an extinct animal in Zoo Tycoon 2, which initially cannot be unlocked by normal means of adoption. However, before being permanently unlocked, you can breed them by the Extinct Research Lab once you achieve a 2 Star Rating at minimum. They can interbreed with Common Zebras, so it may be actually commonplace to place both species in the same exhibit.
The Quagga, scientifically known as Equus quagga, is an extinct Mammal in Zoo Tycoon 2. It has the appearance of a Zebra, but there are primary differences. For the most part, the differences seem to be simply the coloration of its coat. The Quagga has a brown coat, and it's stripes are not very obvious until you reach it's head, as that is where most of it's resemblance to a normal Zebra are located. Overall, though, it is not too much different from the Common Zebra. A note in regards to the scientific names used for both the Common Zebra and the Quagga is that the names are incorrect. For the Common Zebra, whose true common name is Plains Zebra, it's actually Equus quagga, and for the Quagga, it's Equus quagga quagga; a subspecies to be exact. This site simply uses the scientific names given in the actual game for the same reasons this site also ignores actual scientific accuracy much like the Zoo Tycoon games do.
To adopt a Quagga, you must first unlock it via the Extinct Release Program Reward. To do this, place one of every Extinct category animal and satisfy all of it's needs, then release it into the wild. Note, this has to be done on a single save file, but once the Quagga is unlocked, it's available on all save files present and also all new saves started. When available to adopt, it costs $3,000 to purchase, and to clone it, which can be done before it's available to adopt, you need a minimum of a 2 Star Zoo Fame to find the Fossils for the cloning process in the Extinct Research Lab. As a whole, they function almost identical to Common Zebras, including being able to interbreed with them. The only primary differences are their conservation status and coloration, in addition to how they're initially obtained.
